The value of the test drive..
At our recent School Tours, as well as new families contemplating joining the Tyndalian family, we invited parents of current Year 6 Tyndalians to join us and see the senior school up close and to hear about the unique aspect of learning in the higher year levels.
It was a great opportunity to imagine possibilities for their child’s lifelong learning journey, as well as take time to question why, and appreciate the value of, a different approach to learning that suits the stages each adolescent travels through.
School Tours allow staff, as well as parents and potential new students, to think through with clarity why we do things the way we do. So, we value School Tours possibly just as much as our guests. As professionals, we draw upon both our skills and experience, as well as evidence from our university study and subsequent professional development to guide our decision making. Each teacher, as a requirement of their registration by the Teachers Registration Board of SA, must complete 60 hours of further professional learning every three years, so you can be certain we stay on top of our understanding of what, how and why we teach what we do.
The why, at Tyndale, stems directly from the firm foundation of our understanding of who we believe each of us are in God’s Kingdom. We believe we are made in the image of God and, therefore, are intrinsically valuable.
We want each child to have a clear sense of meaning, of right and wrong, of their purpose in life, and they want them to receive guidance that is grounded in truth. In essence, what we are reminded of on a School Tour is that our vision, as a school that is Christian, inclusive and excellent, and intentionally so, is what we all value the most.
With God’s constant help, may we always retain these three qualities and continue to equip students to serve Him and His world.
