Wipe Out Waste Day

On Wednesday 18 June, Tyndale Christian School – Strathalbyn took part in Wipe Out Waste Activation Day, an initiative aimed at creating a cleaner, more sustainable school environment.

The main goal of the day was to collect a baseline of data on the waste generated across our school community. This important step will guide us in making informed and effective improvements to our waste management practices.

Throughout the day, students were actively involved in investigating where and how waste is produced onsite, and they began identifying the challenges that stand in the way of ideal waste practices — especially at the source of waste generation. By observing patterns of litter and general waste, students were able to think critically about what changes could realistically be made to improve outcomes for our school and environment.

The focus was on practical and achievable actions — steps we can take together to reduce waste, minimise litter, and manage materials more effectively across classrooms, outdoor spaces, and common areas.

This activation is just the beginning of our journey. The data collected will now inform future decisions as we work to implement meaningful changes, creating a school that is not only cleaner but also more environmentally responsible.
