WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A TYNDALIAN
Recently, our Head of Schools for the Tyndale Group – Mr Mike Potter introduced us to the Oak Tree illustration as way of outlining ‘What it means to be a Tyndalian’.
Oak trees are one of the oldest and most widely spread trees on this planet. Oaks play a very important role in our natural world, but more so they provide an even greater illustration for our three communities living and growing together as Tyndalians.
It is with great pleasure that I inform you of the appointment of Mr Sam Cheesman to the position of Principal of Tyndale Christian School – Strathalbyn. Sam’s appointment follows a competitive selection process and we are thrilled that he has agreed to join the Tyndale Christian School Group and lead our Strathalbyn community, commencing January 2020.
Sam is a highly experienced educational leader, a passionate Humanities teacher and an enthusiastic life-long learner. Sam is currently employed as the Director of Studies at St Peter’s College, where he has worked in leadership roles since 2012 and during this time led, and contributed to, a number of key improvement initiatives for the school relating to learning analytics, teacher development and strategic planning. Prior to this, he had been employed as the Academic Development Coordinator & Teacher at SPH International in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he played a key role in forming this brand new campus through setting daily operations, shaping school culture, promoting the school, establishing decision making processes, assisting with enrolment processes and ensuring quality learning and teaching.
Sam has been married to Heather for 21 years. Heather is a teacher too. Their eldest, Bella, is 19 and their son Jack, 18, is finishing Year 12 at Emmaus Christian College. The Cheesman family love camping and one of their favourite spots is Mt Remarkable. Some members of the family may prefer the op shops and cafes, while others are descending the mountain bike trails, but all four definitely enjoy a walk together! Sam and his family still look back with fondness upon their time teaching and learning in Jakarta since returning 7 years ago. In his spare time, Sam also enjoys cycling, listening to music, board games, cards, reading (more often philosophy or theology) and having friends over for a meal.
Please pray for Sam and his family as they transition to this new appointment over the remainder of the year and that they will quickly become an integral part of the Tyndale Strathalbyn community. Sam will be visiting the School tomorrow from 10:00am and he is very much looking forward to meeting with as many of the Tyndale Strathalbyn staff as possible.
While this is an exciting time for the future of Tyndale Christian School – Strathalbyn, I also take this opportunity to share my deepest gratitude to Nigel Croser for his leadership at Strathalbyn since 2017. I am so grateful for the role he has played over the past 3 years.

PASTORS MORNING TEA
On Wednesday 24 May 2017 we had the pleasure of hosting a morning tea for pastoral leaders. The pastoral leaders invited were from local churches currently represented within our student population and local churches within the School’s catchment areas.
The purpose of events such as these, is that it seeks to develop activities that communicate the School’s mission, vision, ethos and core values of the School amongst the wider community as per our marketing plan.
It was a great morning where we discussed a range of topics as we seek to support one another in our roles within the church and school. During the morning we also invited them to join with us at our Chapel Services as guest speakers.
Please pray for our local churches who support families within our school community and local towns as we seek to spread the message of Jesus.
If you know of any churches that would like to receive an invitation to future events such as this please click here to advise us or call 8250 7655.
